The Intern: Amitabh Bachchan to replace Rishi Kapoor in this Deepika Padukone starrer?

Deepika Padukone’s fans were super excited as the news of her sharing screen space with Rishi Kapoor in the remake of The Intern went viral. The duo was to be seen in the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film but unfortunately, we lost Rishi Kapoor last year in April. So now, rumours are abuzz that Amitabh Bachchan has been roped in for the role that was originally going to be played by the late actor. Big B and Deepika have created magic on-screen before in Piku and so it will be wonderful to see the duo together on screen again.

The Intern originally starred Anne Hathway and Robert Di Nero; Deepika and Amitabh will be reprising these characters. According to the latest report, the makers of the remake have locked in Big B. The cast is being finalized at the moment and an official confirmation still awaits.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, a source close to the development revealed, “The Hindi remake of The Intern hit a massive roadblock with demise of Rishi Kapoor. This suddenly meant that the venture was missing a crucial member of the cast, and the makers had to re-analyse the casting. Though it has taken a while, the makers of The Intern remake have now locked Amitabh Bachchan for the project and are looking to resume the shoot soon.”

The source further added, “Amitabh Bachchan has been cast to reprise the role that would have been played by Rishi Kapoor. Though it is unclear when the film will finally commence shooting, talks are on with the cast members to finalize dates.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Big B will be next seen in Chehre which also stars Emraan Hashmi. And Deepika will be seen in Pathan along with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham; She also has Fighter with Hrithik Roshan and Shakun Batra’s untitled next in her kitty.
