Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl had founded, film production and distribution company Phantom Films in 2011. Now after seven years of having a glorious run at the box office, its founders have decided to dissolve the production house.

Anurag Kashyap, took to Twitter and wrote, “Phantom was a dream, a glorious one and all dreams come to an end. We did our best and we succeeded and we failed. But I know for sure we will come out of this stronger, wiser and will continue to pursue our dreams our own individual ways. We wish each other the best.

However, Shibasish Sarkar, Chief Operating Officer, Reliance Entertainment told IANS that all four of the filmmakers will continue working individually with the production house partners’ Reliance Entertainment, which earlier had 50% stake in the company.

Vikramaditya too posted announced the news on his Twitter handle

Whereas Madhu Mantena wrote, “We had a glorious run for seven years and I guess sometimes even marriages end. I personally believe that Phantom is the best thing that happened to me in my producing career. I want to thank Anurag, Vikram and Vikas for being great partners, mentors and for holding my hand patiently through my dark times. Hope to continue to be friends and may be even collaborate on individual films in the future.”

The production house has given the audience some of the gems of films like ‘Queen’, ‘Masaan’, ‘lootera‘ and ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘NH10’, ‘Manmarziyan’ to name a few.

For quite some time now rumours of the members of the production house having rift were doing the rounds after reports of sexual harassment case against one of its member Vikas Bahl, surfaced a few years back.

Though they have dissolved the company, we hope that in future individually they continue to produce the kind of films they are known for.
