#MeToo: Anurag Kashyap summoned by Mumbai Police in alleged sexual assault case by Payal Ghosh

Mumbai Police has summoned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap asking him to appear at Versova Police station on October 1 at 11 am as per a report by ANI. He has been accused of sexual assault by actress Payal Ghosh. She filed an FIR alleging rape by Kashyap.

ANI’s report states, “Mumbai Police summons film director Anurag Kashyap (in file photo) asking him to appear at Versova Police station tomorrow at 11 am, in connection with the alleged sexual assault against actor Payal Ghosh.”

Earlier, Kashyap, in a statement by his lawyer, had called the allegations ‘baseless’. His lawyer Priyanka Khimani had said in a statement, “My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest.”

Payal had taken to her Twitter handle and wrote that Anurag had forced himself on her. She was not happy that no action was taken against him and said that Anurag is chilling at home while she is being grilled. “I have put down a case against a culprit who even others are convicting of similar acts and I am the one who is grilled and questioned. While the alleged and the guilty is chilling at his home. Will I get justice sir,” she tweeted.

Now, Payal must be happy that Mumbai Police has summoned Kashyap.
