“Arijit Singh Isn’t Doing A Comeback;” Manager Sets The Record Straight Amid Buzz Of Singer Ending Retirement

When Arijit Singh announced his retirement from playback singing in January 26, fans of the singer were disappointed. However, with the release of Yeh Awarapan from Emraan Hashmi-led Awarapan 2, fans began to wonder whether the singer had reversed his decision and is ending his retirement in just a couple of months.

When quizzed by The Print about Arijit Singh ending his retirement and returning to playback singing with Awarapan 2’s Yeh Awarapan, his manager dismissed the buzz. They simply stated that the singer is not taking up new playback projects but is wrapping those he committed to. Arijit’s manager said, “He is just completing the projects that were finalised before the retirement was announced. Arijit isn’t doing a comeback in playback singing. These are old commitments.”

Arijit’s Retirement

On January 27, Arijit Singh surprised his when he took to social media and announced his retirement from playback singing. In the post he wrote, “Hello, Happy new year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”

Despite the retirement announcement, Arijit’s voice has continued to feature in several news songs. Over the last couple of months, Arijit has lent his voice for songs such as Cocktail 2’s Tujhko and Leher, Ek Din’s Khwaab Dekhoon, Bhooth Bangla’s Tu Hi Disda, the title track of Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi (formerly Battle of Galwan) and now Yeh Awarapan from Awarapan 2. This repeated release This has lead to repeated speculation that he had changed his decision.

Talking about Yeh Awarapan, the Emraan Hashmi song is composed by Amaal Mallik with lyrics penned by Rashmi Virag. The song is picturised on Emraan Hashmi, who is reprising his character of Shivam Pandit from the 2007 film. The song touches upon themes such as grief and inner conflict.
