Dharmendra’s younger son and Sunny Deol’s younger brother Bobby is one of the underrated actors of the industry yet he is such a great actor. Though in the early stage of his career, he gave a few hits but he also went through low phase in his career. After so many years, shedding the image of lover boy, he came into limelight with Class of ’83 and Aashram. In the former, he played a middle-aged cop while in the latter the role of a baba who is also a conman. Recently, he starred in Love Story which is a grey role for which he has been getting a lot of appreciation. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Bobby opened up on the phase when he was typecast, what kept him going during his low phase and how his family supported him during that time.

On how he came out of his low phase, Bobby said, “Stop pitying yourself first, stop crying over yourself. Start looking at what God has given you, what is your your talent, how can I make that work again, where is that fire that was inside me. Start believing in yourself, start burning again and then just get prepared. So, anyone comes knocking at your door for work, you are ready to work and face the world. That’s how I look, I mean that’s the process I went through.”

Talking about the choices that had shaped his career, Bobby said, “I got a chance to do a film called Poster Boys. I was trying to something different. And Poster Boys was an opportunity I got where as an actor wouldn’t look like Bobby Deol will play a small town character who speaks shudh Hindi and something no one expected out of me. No one thought that I could act and that’s something I really enjoyed working with Shreyas Talpade. I call him Guruji as I learned a lot from him. The film didn’t do well at the box-office but the amount of phone calls I got, it gave me so much positivity which made me feel that I can do different stuffs. I think that encouraged me to work even harder.” He added, “Also, in Love Hostel, firstly the character is so dark and I have to speak Haryani. That is something I enjoyed because I am not good at languages. So, I did a lot of workshops. I went through the lines so that I could get it the best I could do and that was exciting.”
