While some familiar faces from Bollywood and beyond are returning, many will make their debut at Cannes 2026. This year’s festival will also showcase India’s rich and diverse regional cinema. There will be participation from prominent filmmakers and actors representing various languages and industries.

Alia Bhatt, Aishwarya Rai To Return, Tara Sutaria Will Make Debut At Cannes 2026

Among the most iconic is Aishwarya Rai, a longstanding fixture at the festival for over two decades, who will grace the red carpet once again. According to HT, Alia Bhatt will return to Cannes after her memorable debut last year. She will join other Indian luminaries, including Karan Johar, Mouni Roy, and Pooja Batra. The entertainment portal also reported that Tara Sutaria will make her Cannes red carpet debut. It is ahead of the release of her upcoming film, Toxic.

India’s official delegation will feature filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker. He has been appointed as the new director of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Regional cinema stars will also be making their presence felt—Punjabi cinema will be represented for the first time with Ammy Virk and Roopi Gill promoting their film Chardikala. Veteran Marathi actors Ashok Saraf and Nivedita Saraf are expected to attend, along with Prajakta Mali and producer Kedar Joshi. They are all set to walk the Cannes red carpet in traditional Marathi attire.

Gujarati cinema will be represented by actor-producer Mansi Parekh, who will attend alongside her husband, singer and producer Parthiv Gohil. Additionally, filmmaker Chidambaram, known for Manjummel Boys, will showcase Malayalam cinema’s finest with his upcoming film Balan: The Boy, which is being presented at the Cannes market. This lineup marks one of the most diverse collections of Indian talent ever seen at the festival, representing multiple industries across the country.
