Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is a body which is autonomous and independent. India is the world’s largest democracy and we are governed by our sovereign constitution. But, CBFC believes in its own set of rules and now it has asked the makers of ‘Thackeray‘ to delete some scenes and dialogues ahead of the trailer launch.

According to a report in Times Now, the Prasoon Joshi led CBFC has raised objections in the ‘Thackeray’ biopic. The CBFC has reportedly objected against a particular Babri Masjid scene and another dialogue ‘Yandu Gundu’ which has been used against the South Indian community staying in Mumbai.

Shiv Sena politician and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, who is also the film’s producer, however, maintains that the makers will go ahead with the trailer launch today. Not too long ago in 2016, CBFC headed by Pahlaj Nihalani had told the makers of ‘Udta Punjab’ to have 89 cuts in the film.

‘Thackeray’ biopic is made on the life and times of late Bal Thackeray. The role of Shiv Sena supremo and founder has been portrayed by the impeccable Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Nawaz, in the teaser, had totally blown everyone’s mind with his acting. The larger than life biopic is being directed by Abhijit Panse.

‘Thackeray’ biopic is slated to release on January 23, 2019, to commemorate the birth anniversary of  Balasaheb Thackeray. When the first teaser of the film was released a year back, it left the audience awestruck and intrigued.
