Cocktail 2: ‘Diya’ Rashmika Mandanna, ‘Ally’ Kriti Sanon Are A Lesbian Couple? Makers FINALLY Break Silence- Watch

As the team of Cocktail 2 unveiled the film’s trailer, one particular rumour became a major talking point. Recent speculation on social media suggested that Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna play a couple in the film, prompting questions at the event. Addressing the buzz, the cast and makers firmly denied the claims. Director Homi Adajania went on to explain the light-hearted conversation that inadvertently sparked the rumour, while producer Dinesh Vijan clarified that Cocktail 2 does not feature a lesbian romance.

Is Cocktail 2 About Lesbian Love Between Rashmika Mandanna, Kriti Sanon?

During the trailer launch today, Rashmika Mandanna was asked about the speculation surrounding her and Kriti’s characters, Diya and Ally. Reacting to the rumours, Kriti Sanon hinted that they seemed to be coming from a single source, hinting at Shahid. “I think the rumours are coming from one place only,” she said.

Rashmika appeared to agree with her co-star’s observation. Shahid Kapoor then lightened the mood with a humorous response. “I didn’t say anything, guys. Why would I want it that way? I have nothing to do with that? Kaha se aa rahe hain rumours?” he joked.

Soon after, director Homi Adajania explained how the rumour actually started. According to him, the idea emerged during a casual conversation on set after the team noticed the easy camaraderie between Kriti and Rashmika. “Let me clear it up. This is where the rumour came from. We were all sitting on the set. They definitely get a little cuddly with each other because they are friends. And we just hypothetically thought, ‘What if the story was about them and Shahid was the third wheel?’ And I said I wouldn’t mind making a movie like that.”

Producer Dinesh Vijan Breaks Silence

While the hypothetical version amused the team, producer Dinesh Vijan clarified that it has nothing to do with the actual plot of Cocktail 2. “So guys, we were supposed to clear this up, so in the trailer there are two love stories. Purana love aur naya love and ye Luv (Ranjan). Aur kuchh nahi hai kisi ka love nahi hai is picture mein.”

During the conversation, Kriti also highlighted her friendship with Rashmika. Both actresses revealed that they formed a strong bond almost instantly. Kriti recalled their first interaction and admitted she was impressed by Rashmika’s dedication in the gym. “We first met when we worked out together in the same studio. I literally died because she works out like a beast. I really didn’t know that.”

Rashmika echoed the sentiment and said their friendship developed naturally. “There was no effort. It was just so easy.”

Shahid Kapoor once again stepped in with a joke, asking, “Do you think that is the reason people think it’s a lesbian love story, because of your natural chemistry?”

However, Kriti offered a more thoughtful perspective on why such assumptions are often made.“I think it’s really sad because jab do ladke hote hain to ‘bromance’ ho jata hai. Ladkiyan hoti hai do toh somehow people don’t want to believe they can be friends. Ya toh in mein rivalry ya phir kuchh aur chal raha hoga,” she said.
