Priyanka Chopra’s Mother Madhu REACTS To Kriti Sanon’s Raksha Bandhan AD Controversy

In response to the controversy, Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, shared her perspective. Speaking at the Women Building Cinema Together event in Mumbai, she emphasised the importance of boundaries and dignity. She stated, “My body, my choice is right, but there should be some boundaries and respect for others’ values.”

She acknowledged that while women can wear what they like for work or personal preference, it’s essential to consider aesthetics and appropriateness for the occasion. Madhu also highlighted that societal expectations often scrutinise women’s attire during festivals and traditional celebrations.

What Is The Controversy?

Following the backlash, the jewellery brand GIVA issued a statement clarifying that they had taken down the advertisement out of respect for Indian culture and sentiments. They expressed regret if the ad caused any hurt and reaffirmed their respect for traditions, emphasising their intention was to celebrate festive moments with family, including pets.

Kriti REACTS To AD Row

Kriti Sanon responded to the controversy by defending her outfit and the campaign’s message. She took to Instagram Stories, questioning why people are so bothered by her clothing choices. Kriti explained that the essence of Raksha Bandhan lies in the emotional bond and the prayers for health, happiness, and long life, which extend to pets as well.

She emphasised that culture and traditions are rooted in the heart, not in clothing, and called out the double standards in judging women’s attire, remarking, “When will we stop telling women what to wear? Culture and traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline!”

Kriti’s stance has ignited discussions on social media about evolving fashion norms, societal expectations, and the importance of respecting personal choices and cultural values during festivals.
