According to police, the shooting was happening at Sangam Mahuli, a village where the Krishna and Venna rivers meet, about 250 km from Mumbai. After finishing the song shoot, which involved the use of colored powders, Sharma went to the river to wash his hands. He later entered deeper into the river for a swim and was swept away by strong currents.

When Sharma went missing, local authorities and disaster response teams were immediately alerted. The rescue operation was launched with the help of police, district officials, and volunteers from private organizations. However, the search had to be paused Tuesday night due to poor visibility and resumed the next morning. Despite efforts throughout Wednesday, Sharma remained untraceable.

His body was finally recovered from the river around 7:30 am on Thursday. An accidental death case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing
