Deepika Padukone Announces 6th Film With Shah Rukh Khan; Subtly Shades Kalki 2898 AD Sequel Makers In Emotional Post

Deepika Padukone has been making the headlines for a number of reasons in the last several months. Now, within 24 hours of the makers of Kalki 2898 AD announcing that she won’t be part of he upcoming sequel, the actress has played a power move. Deepika took to her social media and not only subtly took a dig at the makers of the blockbuster pan-India film, but she also announced her next collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan – King. Deepika Padukone Announces 6th Film With Shah Rukh Khan

Taking to Instagram during the wee hours of Saturday, September 20, Deepika Padukone posted a close-up photo of her holding Shah Rukh Khan’s hand. She captioned it, “The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago while filming Om Shanti Om was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success.”

She further added, “I couldn’t agree more and have applied that learning to every decision I’ve made since. And that’s probably why we’re back making our 6th movie together?” Commenting on his wife’s post, Ranveer Singh wrote, “Bestest Besties! (Halo face, nazar amulet and red heart emojis)”

Deepika and SRK had starred opposite each other in Om Shanti Om (2007), Chennai Express (2013), Happy New Year (2014), Pathaan (2023) and Jawan (2023). The duo also featured alongside each other in a song from Billu (2009).

Deepika’s Professional Life

As per reports, Deepika began shooting for King just a few days after Kalki 2898 AD’s production house, Vyjayanthi Movies, announced that she is no longer a part of sequel. In their statement, the makers stated that Deepika Padukone was dropped “after much thought” as the film “needs full dedication, and unfortunately, we couldn’t align our vision.”

Deepika played a pivotal part in the first part of the Nag Ashwin directorial co-starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan. The sci-fi epic – with its over-the-top graphics and extensive overseas release, grossed approximately ₹1100 crore at the box office worldwide.

Talking about King, the upcoming film is being directed by Siddharth Anand and stars Suhana Khan, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Abhay Verma in pivotal roles. Deepika is also teaming up with Allu Arjun for Atlee’s upcoming film currently titled AA22xA6.
