Ektaa Kapoor & mom Shobha receive arrest warrant for allegedly insulting soldiers in her web series- Report

A court in Bihar’s Begusarai district issued an arrest warrant against Ektaa Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor for their web series ‘XXX’. The web series ‘XXX’ aired on ALT Balaji, an OTT platform owned by Ektaa Kapoor’s TV company Balaji Telefilms.

The arrest warrants were issued against Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor on charges of insulting soldiers and hurting the sentiments of their family members in the series, news agency PTI reported.

The arrest warrants were issued by judge Vikas Kumar on the basis of a complaint lodged by Shambhu Kumar. Shambhu Kumar, a resident of Begusarai, said in his complaint last year, that XXX had scenes related to a soldier’s wife.

Speaking to PTI, Shambhu Kumar’s advocate Hrishikesh Pathak said, “The series was aired on ALTBalaji, an OTT platform owned by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Ltd. Shobha Kapoor is also associated with Balaji Telefilms. The court had issused summons to them and asked them to appear before it in connection with the matter. They (Ekta and Shobha Kapoor), however, informed the court that certain scenes in the series were removed after the objection. But they did not appear before the court following which the warrant was issued against them.”

Ektaa Kapoor is one of the biggest proudcers of Indian television. The TV Czarina has given many hit shows including Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kahiin To Hoga and Kasamh Se. Ektaa Kapoor has also produced many films in her career including Love Sex aur Dhokha, Kyun kii… Mein Jhuth Nahin Bolta, Kumkum Bhagya, Ek Villain among others.
