South movies are often remade in Hindi and Bollywood filmmakers encash a good amount from the remakes. Hindi films like Kabir Singh, Drishyam, Ghajini, Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa among others did well at the box-office and also managed to woo the audiences. Now TV czarina, Ekta Kapoor has bagged the rights of the 2014 action thriller, Naan Sigappu Manithan that stars Vishal Krishna Reddy aka Vishal.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, when Vishal was asked if he wants to see any of his films to be remade in Hindi, he said, “In fact, one of my films, Naan Sigappu Manithan, is already being remade in Hindi. There’s another film, Irumbu Thirani, whose shoot will start sometime this year.” Sharing details about the Hindi remake of Naan Sigappu Manithan, he said that it is being made by Balaji. He said, “They are such sweet people. They even invited me to hear their version of the story. I haven’t heard from them about the actor or star-cast.”

Naan Sigappu Manithan is about a boy Indran (Vishal) who suffers from Narcolepsy since childhood. Vishal believes that the concept makes it ‘unique and ideal’ for a Hindi remake. He said, “It’s a very different concept that gelled well with the audience. It’s about narcolepsy and even I had no idea about it when the script was narrated to me. People get irritated seeing the regular routine stuff. But when you make something which is real and spoken in a commercial format, the audience is on the edge of the seat.”

Vishal’s Chakra hit the theatres last week. It was released in Hindi as well. Talking about Ekta Kapoor, she has films like Doobara, Ek Villain 2 and the Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo remake.
