IIM Bangalore has developed case studies like this with leading companies and this case will form a part of the coursework. For this, the professor paid a visit to Mumbai to meet Ekta and spent some time with her to get her perspective on the company and how she became one of the most successful content creators across genres and across platforms
When asked Ekta about it, she said, ” It’s a huge honour to have the topmost management college of India working on a case study on my work. For us, the focus has always been the content. And more importantly, the decision as to which platform – television, big screen or digital will the content work on. It has been a significant, insightful and enriching journey so far. I’ve learnt from my own experiences. It’s great to share these with young students who aspire to rule over the entertainment business in the future
Ekta is hailed to as the TRP queen and daily soaps have made a mark in the field as since the time she has entered the industry she has always tried to give the audience something which they never expected. She inspired an entire genre of what came to be known as saas-bahu serials and ave Indian television shows that witnessed a run for years.
Later the filmmaker also ventured into producing films with various content and has pushed the envelope as a producer. After dominating TV, she ventured to celluloid, once again upping the ante of content on the big screen. Ekta Kapoor clearly knows the pulse of viewers across the platform as she gave us movies based on different genres. Latest being Veere Di Wedding, the theme is about the age-old concepts of proposals, marriages and how 21st-century women try and deal it in their way.
Her latest domain being the Digital platform, Ekta has tailor-made content for the online audience. She has her own digital video streaming service where she brings in content for the younger generation who doesn’t watch television more and like watching content on their phones more.
She has taken bold steps and made few contents of the most amazing contents on the digital platform as well, like the curious case of Subhash Chandra Bose’s death, a gay love story, and a married couple having an extramarital affair. These are concepts which people in our country hardly talk about but Ekta has always supported different content.
