Emraan Hashmi Announces Return To Horror Genre With Rooh; Shares Chilling FIRST Look- Watch

Emraan Hashmi is known for two things in Bollywood – being a serial kisser and delivering chilling horror film with chartbuster songs. Well, here’s some good news for all Emraan fans, the actor is all set to return the genre audiences have long loved him in. Hashmi is all set to headline Rooh, a musical-horror film. Emraan Hashmi Unveils Haunting First Look Of Rooh

Earlier today, Emraan Hashmi and the makers of Rooh took to social media and shared the film’s first look. The video – captioned, “You won’t see it coming. You will feel it forever,” beings with the words, “When a legend revisits the darkness, a nightmare is born.”

The video then presents unsettling visuals, including that of a forest engulfed in flames and a mysterious body levitating in mid-air. Then comes one of most striking moments – a hand wiping away frost from a glass surface and revealing Emraan Hashmi’s intense gaze. The glimpse also shows Emraan’s eyes turning completely black to a haunting musical score.

Speaking about the film, Emraan said, “Rooh is a film that immediately connected with me because it brings together new-age horror, emotion and music in a very powerful way. This is a space that audiences have always associated with me, and the world Mayank is creating feels intense, emotional and cinematic. That is what excited me the most about Rooh, and I am really looking forward to audiences experiencing it on the big screen.”

About The Film

Speaking about the film, director Mayank Sharma adds, “As someone who has always loved the horror genre… Rooh is my attempt to create a film that goes beyond fear. It’s emotionally layered and immersed with unsettling atmosphere and presented with contemporary cinematic treatment… I’m thrilled to collaborate with Emraan for this deeply layered character. My entire team and I hope to bring audiences a truly unique and unforgettable horror experience.”

Directed by Mayank Sharma, the creator-director of the Prime Video’s Breathe franchise, Rooh brings together a unique blend of new-age horror, music and emotion, envisioned as a spine-chilling cinematic experience. The film is written by Mayank Sharma and Vishal Kapoor and produced by Vikram Khakhar and Sunny Khanna, a Vicked Films Productions.

The film will release in theatres in 2027 – the exact date isn’t out yet, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
