Kulmeet Makkar, CEO of the Film & Television Producers Guild, passed away after suffering a massive heart attack. The news of his death was confirmed by film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Filmmaker Karan Johar offered his condolences to Kulmeet’s family and friends on social media.

Confirming the news and offering his condolences, Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “RIP #KulmeetMakkar… CEO of Producers Guild of India.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar offering his condolences wrote, “Kulmeet you were such an incredible pillar to all of us at the Producers Guild of India….relentlessly working for the industry and towards its enhancement and advancement… you left us too soon…We will miss you and always remember you fondly…. Rest in peace my friend…(sic)”

As per a report by Indiantelevision.com, Kulmeet breathed his last today after suffering a massive heart attack. He was in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. He worked in the entertainment industry for more than three decades. He has been associated with Saregama, Reliance Entertainment and Shreya Entertainment to name a few. He took over as Guild’s CEO in 2010.

Reportedly, he was working towards raising funds to help the daily wage earners of the film industry who are badly affected owing to the Coronavirus pandemic and the following lockdown observed nationwide.
