Gangubai Kathiawadi: Alia Bhatt gets emotional as she wraps the film; says, ‘When a film ends a part of you ends with it’

Working with maverick filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is every actor’s dream come true. Luckily, Alia Bhatt got the dream opportunity to work with Bhansali in Gangubai Kathiawadi. After facing several hurdles like Coronavirus induced lockdown, lead actor’s contracting the deadly virus, Bhansali has finally wrapped the film.

After the film’s wrap, Alia got emotional as she recalled the journey of being totally invested in its making for the last two years. The actress penned a heartfelt note for the crew of the film and shared how her experiences while working on Gangubai Kathiawadi has contributed to her growth as an artiste.

Sharing a few pictures with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the crew of Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia wrote, “We started shooting Gangubai on the 8th of December 2019 .. and we wrapped the film now 2 years later! This film and set has been through two lockdowns.. two cyclones.. director and actor getting covid during the making!!! the troubles the set has faced is another film altogether! But through all that and more.. what I take away is the gigantic life changing experience!”

She further added, “Being directed by sir has been a dream all my life, but I don’t think anything would have prepared me for the journey I was on for these two years.. I walk out of this set a diff person today! I love you sir! Thank You for being you .. there is truly NO ONE like you 🪄✨ When a film ends a part of you ends with it! Today I’ve lost a part of me.. Gangu I love you! You will be missed♥️ P.S – special mention to my crew – my family and friends for these two years! without you nothing would have been possible! Love you guys!!!”

Gangubai Kathiawadi was scheduled to release next month. However, there are speculations about the makers releasing it on an OTT platform owing to Covid restrictions. But neither the makers nor the actress has confirmed anything about the film’s new release date.
