Guneet Monga French honour

Filmmaker-producer Guneet Monga is one of the most celebrated personalities thanks to her impeccable skill of picking up poignant stories and presenting them to the cinephiles. The filmmaker will be adding one more feather to her already decorated hat. Very soon Guneet will be conferred with the honour of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier dans I’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres). It is the second-highest civilian French honour.

Guneet is the founder of Sikhya Entertainment and she has films like The Lunchbox, Masaan, What will people say, Soorarai Pottaru, Haramkhor, Peddlers, Pagglait, Gangs of Wasseypur, Zubaan to her credit.  She also has co-produced the Oscar award-winning documentary Period, End of Sentence.

Guneet is also one of the first Indian producers to be inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She has also co-founded Indian Women Rising along with Ekta Kapoor and Tahira Kashyap.

Honouring her contribution to cinema, on behalf of the French authorities, Guneet will be felicitated by the Ambassador of France to India at a ceremony in Delhi on the 13th April 2021

Previously Indian celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,  Nandita Das, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Anurag Kashyap, Kalki Koechlin have been conferred with the French honour. The same award has also been conferred to Hollywood legends like Meryl Streep, Bruce Willis and Leonardo DiCaprio.
