Hema Malini Reacts To Dharmendra’s BAFTA Tribute

During a recent conversation with Variety India, Malini described the inclusion of Dharmendra in the awards’ tribute as “heartening,” underscoring the impact he made on audiences and fellow artists over his decades-long career. “He was someone whose presence went beyond borders. He had fans in every part of the world. My God, the way he would be mobbed in foreign countries. We didn’t travel together much, except for shootings when we got to spend time together. We would sign lots of films together so we could spend time together.

Hema Malini further said, “I miss him every single minute. I keep asking myself, is he really gone? When will I meet him again?”

Dharmendra, known for his prolific contribution to Indian cinema since the 1960s and fondly called the “He-Man” of Bollywood, has featured in numerous iconic films and continues to be remembered by fans and peers alike. The BAFTA tribute event highlighted his influence beyond India’s film industry, drawing applause and recognition from a global audience.

Malini’s remarks come at a moment when many admirers are celebrating Dharmendra’s artistic legacy, prompting reflections on his enduring presence in film history. She described the BAFTA acknowledgement as a moment of pride for family, friends and generations of fans who grew up watching his performances.
