Yesterday Salman Khan’s father, veteran scriptwriter Salim Khan was bestowed with the Indian Film Personality of the Year award at IFFI. Salim Khan along with Javed Akhtar formed one of the greatest pairs of writers, who revolutionised the Hindi cinema in the 1970s and 1980s. Salim Khan was not there to collect this award in person so his son Arbaaz Khan received the award on his behalf.

While receiving the award Arbaaz read a note by Salim which said, “I dedicate this award to Indore, my birthplace. And to Mumbai, the city that has given me everything.”

Salim took to Twitter to express his gratitude, and wrote, “1/2 Thank you IFFI and Information & Broadcasting ministry, Government of India for honouring me with the Indian Personality for Lifetime contribution to Indian Cinema.#IFFI2018”

He further wrote, “I dedicate this award to Indore, my birthplace and to Mumbai and the Film Industry which has given me everything. I would also like to thank Mr Javed Akhtar without whose contribution this would not have been possible.#IFFI2018”

Veteran actor and theatre personality Kabir Bedi also had some special words for the great Salim Khan. He praised him for his immense contribution to the Indian cinema.
