Why Is Diljit Dosanjh Missing Main Vaapas Aaunga Promotions?

Despite Diljit Dosanjh playing one of the leads, fans noticed his absence from the film’s promotions and media interactions. While Imtiaz Ali and Vedang Raina actively promoted the film, Diljit remained away due to his international concert commitments.

Addressing the same during a conversation with India Today, Imtiaz explained that the team already knew about Diljit’s schedule while planning the film.

The filmmaker said, “I can’t represent the whole film industry on this one, but for us, Diljit is not here because he’s doing shows abroad, and Sharvari is not there because she is shooting abroad. When we got a release date, we knew this was going to happen. In fact, when we were taking the dates from Diljit to shoot for this film, we knew that he was going to perform at concerts when we would be releasing this film.”

He added, “But at that point of time, what was more important was the casting of the film rather than the actor’s ability to promote. We don’t have the strategy of not doing promotions or interactions, and I don’t know which is a better or a worse strategy.” The filmmaker added, “We do this because we are habituated to do this. We have made a film, and we want it to reach across.”

Imtiaz also reacted to the growing trend of actors avoiding traditional media promotions and relying more on social media to market their films. When asked whether actors avoid interviews to stay away from controversies, the director dismissed the assumption. He said, “No, I don’t think so. It might just hinge on whether it might be effective or not. If somebody is not doing promotions, they must be thinking that it is not important and will not help the prospect of the film.”

Diljit Dosanjh On Missing The Trailer Launch

This is not the first time Diljit’s absence from the promotions has become a talking point. Earlier, the actor skipped the trailer launch event as well. However, he shared a video message from Texas explaining his absence due to his ongoing concert tour.

Diljit had said, “Hello folks, this is Diljit Dosanjh. Love and greetings to all. You are going to watch the trailer of Main Vaapas Aaunga, so enjoy it. I am in Texas, so I could not come. Tonight’s show in Texas is sold out.” He further added, “I am taking care of some things here; you do the same thing. Jaldi Main Bhi Vaapas Aaunga (I will also come back soon). Enjoy the trailer. If you like it, share it. If you don’t, still share it! After all, it’s Imtiaz Ali’s film.”

Main Vaapas Aaunga marks Diljit Dosanjh’s second collaboration with Imtiaz Ali after Amar Singh Chamkila, which received widespread critical acclaim and audience appreciation.
