Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor

For long, we have been debating over how Bollywood has been dominated by male stars. We all are aware of the wage gap that exists between male and female stars in Bollywood. In fact, many actresses have been gutsy enough to speak on the same and confirm that yes, somewhere injustice is being done to female stars. But looks like times are changing.

Whispers are being heard in tinsel town that Deepika Padukone is getting paid more than her male counterparts for her next film ‘Padmavati’. This Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial is one of the most anticipated films of this year and it stars Deepika, Shahid and Ranveer in the lead roles. If reports are anything to go by then Deepika is apparently getting paid approximately Rs 13 crore for this film, which is a little more than her male co-stars. Shahid and Ranveer are apparently getting paid Rs 10 crore for their roles.

We don’t know how much of this is true but if yes, then we can definitely say that some progress has been made in the industry. ‘Padmavati’ is a film based on the life of Queen Padmavati, the role of who would be essayed by Deepika. She is the central character of the film and indeed, she deserves to be paid more.

Ranveer Singh would be seen essaying the role of Allaudin Khilji whereas Shahid would portray Raja Rawal Ratan Singh’s role in this film. ‘Padmavati’ is slated to release in the month of November this year. (Also Read: Again! Release date of SLB’s ‘Padmavati’ postponed to next year?)
