John Abraham, who has acted in dozens of movies and produced many films, has taken a dig at highest paid actors. ‘Satyamev Jayate’ star said that he only works for credibility, not for money. Taking a jibe at actors who go out to party and dance for the sake of money, John said that he does not dance at a wedding for money. He finds it demeaning.

‘Madras Cafe’ star does not say yes to any movie unless he reads the script and his selection of movies over the period of times have proved the same. Talking about the money an actor can earn by signing a movie, John said, “As an actor, you are here to show your craft. How much money do you want to mint? Why is it important to be on a list of the highest earners? What about the audience you are robbing with the crap you put out? I have always worked hard for credibility, I get that, I move on quietly. I wish we had more actors cut out from the same fabric.”

In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, John Abraham spoke at length about how social media has changed everything and why Bollywood stars are so obsessed with being on a list of highest paid actors. It is to be noted that in the highest paid Bollywood actors 2018 list, Salman Khan topped for the third consecutive year.

However, Salman Khan had only one single movie (‘Race 3’) in 2018, which did average business at the box office window.  Talking about social media trolling, John said that Bollywood stars who are trolled on social media are mostly ‘asking for it’.

“There is, but aren’t celebrities also asking for it by wearing funny clothes outside airports and doing funny things. You can only be laughed at if you decide to be a clown in the circus. It’s your choice. I’m not an actor who dances at shows or weddings for money. I find it demeaning. I’m not saying that I’m right, but I wouldn’t do it, ever,” said John.

Talking about lessons he learned from the year 2018, he said, “To keep working, to doing more films. The idea is not to take yourself too seriously, but to simply enjoy the process.”
