Celebrating two decades in Bollywood is a significant milestone, and Kangana Ranaut chose to mark the occasion by reflecting on her journey’s beginning—a photograph that transformed her life. The BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi recently completed 20 years in entertainment, and she took to Instagram to share a nostalgic glimpse of her very first portfolio shoot.

The throwback picture, taken by photographer Jatin Kampani, holds special significance for Kangana, as it was the photo that helped her land her debut role in Gangster. Sharing this memory with her fans, she wrote that her portfolio served as the foundation of her cinematic journey. Reflecting on her early days, Kangana posted, “Today I completed 20 years in the film industry. This is my first portfolio by @jatinkampani that landed me the role of Simran in Gangster.”

She also shared another image from her initial magazine shoot, taking followers back to a time before she became one of Bollywood’s most talked-about stars.

Gangster, released in 2006 and directed by Anurag Basu, was produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films. The romantic thriller starred Kangana alongside Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. Its music, composed by Pritam, continues to be popular today.

Kangana’s Projects, Career

Following her impressive debut, Kangana rapidly built a diverse filmography. It includes Fashion and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. In 2011, she earned praise for her comic timing in Tanu Weds Manu, opposite R. Madhavan, marking the start of a highly successful phase in her career.

Kangana has since won back-to-back National Film Awards for Best Actress for Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Most recently, she appeared in her 2025 directorial venture, Emergency.
