Kangana Ranaut Jibes At Kriti Sanon Again Amid Rakshabandhan AD Controversy

The controversy between Kangana Ranaut and Kriti Sanon over the latter’s Raksha Bandhan advertisement has sparked a heated debate on social media and in public discourse. Kangana Ranaut, recently involved in criticising Kriti Sanon’s outfit in a Rakhi special ad, questioned why Kriti, who often wears revealing or modern outfits in films, should be restricted from wearing what she chooses for a traditional festival like Rakhi. Kangana Ranaut Jibes At Kriti Sanon Again Amid Rakshabandhan AD Controversy, Bikini Remarks

During a conversation with Sudhir Chaudhary on Decode Live, Kangana remarked, “Who has stopped her from wearing anything she wants?” She emphasised that women should have the freedom to wear whatever they like, especially on occasions like Raksha Bandhan. “Who is stopping them from wearing whatever they want? Who has ever stopped them? Why would anyone care what they choose to wear? A woman can wear whatever she wants on Raksha Bandhan. I feel the bralette was a minor detail, but Hindus, and we come from that background, are the ones who can point this out. Where are the parents? Where is the home? There is no sign of halwa-puri, God, tilak, akshat, incense, or diya,” Kangana said.

She further insisted that certain rituals should not be left out when depicting Raksha Bandhan. She added, “It won’t work without the teeka; Rakhi won’t work. You say aesthetics don’t matter. No. A festival is an aesthetic expression of a culture and a civilisation. Raksha Bandhan is religious expression of a civilisation.”

This statement followed Kangana’s earlier Instagram Stories where she questioned the appropriateness of tying a rakhi in a bikini or undergarments. It was seen as a critique of Kriti Sanon’s modern attire in the advertisement. Kriti responded publicly, emphasising that festivals are about emotions and traditions, not clothing. She highlighted that respect for culture is rooted in the heart, not just in clothing choices. The actress expressed her disapproval of societal scrutiny over women’s attire.

About The Rakshabandhan Controversy

The controversy intensified when the jewellery brand that featured Kriti’s ad decided to withdraw it. They cited that the advertisement may have unintentionally hurt sentiments. The brand issued a statement expressing respect for Indian culture and traditions. They clarified that their intention was to celebrate festive moments with the entire family, including pets. They apologised if the ad caused any offence and took it down from all media platforms.

Kangana also took the opportunity to make a broader public jibe, naming celebrities like Taapsee Pannu, Rakhi Sawant, Sonu Sood, and Ashutosh Rana. She accused them of making passing comments on her family, politics, and conduct. This episode underscores ongoing debates about women’s clothing choices, societal expectations, and the boundaries of public commentary on personal and cultural matters.
