Meghna clarified that an actor’s wardrobe choices should be based on the character and the director’s vision. She said, “Uss film mein ek female ka ya ek male ka kya character hai, uss hisab se unko dress kiya jayega. It depends on the director. It is unfair to ask this to one actor,” she explained.

What Was The Controversy?

The controversy began after a jewellery brand, GIVA, released a Raksha Bandhan ad featuring Kriti Sanon. In the campaign, Kriti was seen celebrating the festival with her brother and tying a rakhi to their pet dog. She wore an Indo-Western outfit consisting of a bralette-style blouse, a cape, and a draped skirt. While the ad aimed to give a modern twist to Raksha Bandhan, it faced criticism from some social media users, who questioned Kriti’s outfit and felt it was inappropriate for a festival traditionally associated with family and cultural values.

Kriti later responded to the criticism, defending the campaign’s message. She emphasised that the significance of festivals lies in the emotions and traditions associated with them.

The ad was eventually pulled, and the brand’s founder, Ishendra Agarwal, issued a clarification on Instagram following the backlash. He stated that there was a perception the brand had distanced itself from the campaign and its message. However, he clarified that the brand’s belief in the campaign’s intent “remains unchanged.”

Meanwhile, Daayra is scheduled to release in theatres on September 18.
