B-town’s ace designer Manish Malhotra‘s father Suraj Malhotra breathed his last on November 18. While the exact cause of his death is yet to be known, reportedly he was in his 90s and was not keeping well for some time.

Yesterday, several Bollywood stars arrived at Malhotra’s house to pay their last respects. Actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Jaya Bachchan, Malaika Arora, Karisma Kapoor and Kiara Advani were snapped outside Manish’s Mumbai residence. Kareena was photographed smiling and greeting Jaya after she stepped out of Manish’s house. Netizens slammed Kareena for smiling at her close friend’s father’s funeral.

As Kareena was leaving Manish’s house, she was seen greeting Jaya Bachchan. The actress was caught smiling by the shutterbugs and that irked the netizens. They soon slammed Bebo for smiling at a funeral. One of the users wrote, “His father died, she is his so-called dear friend and she laughing. At least keep a grim face for the camera(sic).”

However, there were few users who came out in support of Kareena and said, “There’s a difference between laughing and smiling. In the video, she is smiling. Pictures don’t always show what’s happening(sic).”

Here’s the video of Kareena greeting Jaya as she leaves Manish’s house.

Kareena was smiling because she was greeting the veteran actress Jaya, and obviously as pointed out by one of the users, photographs not necessarily capture the whole story.

A prayer meeting in Suraj Malhotra’s memory will take place in a suburban hotel today.
