After Ali Abbas Zafar announced ‘Mr India’ trilogy, Shekhar Kapur who directed the 1987’s cult movie ‘Mr India’ blasted at the makers of the trilogy for not asking him or mentioning about the film to him. In a recent tweet, Mr Kapur wrote, “The argument on a remake of #MrIndia is not that no one took permission from me or even bothered to tell me. The question is. If you are remaking a feature film, based on a director’s very successful work, does the Director have no creative rights over what he/she created?” This tweet didn’t go well with Javed Akhtar who wrote the script of ‘Mr India’ along with Salim Khan. Javed Akhtar also wrote the lyrics of the songs.

Javed Akhtar replied back to Shekhar Kapur saying that “the story, situations, scenes, characters, dialogues, lyrics and the title were given by him”. He further wrote, “Yes you execute it very well but how can your claim on the film be more than mine. It wasn’t you idea . It wasn’t your dream”.
