Mukesh Chhabra finally reveals why he chose Sanjana Sanghi opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in ‘Dil Bechara’

Sanjana Sanghi is making her debut as the lead in ‘Dil Bechara’ opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra has donned director’s hat with this movie. Sanjana had already appeared in many movies earlier like ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Hindi Medium’ to name a few. In fact, Mukesh Chhabra cast her in Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Rockstar’. She was just 13 when he saw her in Delhi and then cast her in the movie. When he read the script of ‘Dil Bechara’, he was clear that he would cast Sanjana. He called her and took a look test. Mukesh felt that Sanjana’s face was perfect for the role.

When asked what major changes Chhabra sees in Sanjana as an artiste and a person, he said, “I could see the change in her from a 13-year-old and now in Kizie. People who will meet her won’t see that change and the change is so correct but the innocence is still there. She has a purity with which she pulled off her first film”.

Talking about ‘Dil Bechara’, it is an adaptation of the English novel ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by John Green. Also, a Hollywood movie was made based on the novel. Mukesh said that the screenplay and dialogues of ‘Dil Bechara’ were written keeping the typical Indian audiences in mind.

“The set of the story and mood is very different from ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. The biggest change you will see when you watch the film,” said Mukesh.

While talking about casting for other filmmakers and casting for his film, Mukesh said, “When I am casting for them, I’m helping in their vision because they have already thought about something and when I am casting for my film, I feel pressurised.”
