Casting director Mukesh Chhabra is making his directorial debut with Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film ‘Dil Bechara’. The film is really special to Mukesh not only because it’s his debut film as a director, but also because he made his debut with Sushant whom he nurtured and guided. Mukesh is still sinking in and doesn’t know how to react to Sushant’s death.

Sushant was always Mukesh’s first choice for his directorial debut. When we asked Mukesh the reason behind such a strong conviction in Sushant, he said, “He showed the conviction in me first when he said he will work in my directorial debut. We developed that bond in 2016. He showed interest and some thirst in me. He promised me and I said ‘ok’ and finally in 2018 when I actually got the script, he immediately said yes. So, he kept his promise, finished it and left. Don’t know why he left.”

Mukesh said, “It was a big step that he took”. When asked if ‘Dil Bechara’ is like a proper send off to Sushant, Mukesh said it will be if he can make him proud wherever he is watching him and people’s love and blessings.

It took two years for the movie to get completed. On this, Mukesh said, “It’s a normal two years from the pre-production to writing till the completion of the shoot. To adapt a book to write a film and then shoot, edit and then creating music, I think, it’s not a lot of time.”
