Popular Bhajan singer Narendra Chanchal passed away today in Delhi. He was one of the iconic Bhajan singers of the country. He was 80. According to Chanchal’s concert organiser, Sanjay Malik, the singer passed away at around 12 pm. Sanjay has worked with Narendra for the past 25 years and he revealed Chanchal’s cause of death was age-related issues.

According to a report by Indian Express, Sanjay revealed that the Bhajan singer was not well for quite some time. Chanchal was admitted at the Apollo Hospital for a couple of months. Sanjay said, “His health hadn’t been well for some time now. He had been admitted to the Apollo Hospital for two months. He had fallen quite weak. He breathed his last today.”

Chanchal’s songs, Chalo Bulava Aaya Hai from Avtaar and Beshak Mandir Masjid Todo from Bobby had become hugely popular. He had also bagged a Filmfare Award for Best Male Singer for Bobby.

Singer Daler Mehndi took to his Twitter handle and mourned Chanchal’s death.“Deeply saddened to learn that iconic and most loved #NarendraChanchal ji has left us for the heavenly abode. In prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family and legions of fans,” he wrote.

Cricketer Harbhajan Singh was also deeply saddened by Chanchal’s death. He tweeted, “Deeply saddened to learn that iconic and most loved #NarendraChanchal ji has left us for the heavenly abode. In prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family.”
