Well, not many people know that the makers have been looking for actors to play the role of Abdul, and many Bollywood as well as Hollywood actors were considered for the film. After taking auditions of many actors, Ali Fazal and ‘Lion’ actor Dev Patel were finalised. However, then it was Ali who got the role.

A source close to the project told us, “Many Indian origin and Bollywood actors had auditioned for this role of Abdul and amongst them Ali and Dev were finalised for this role but finally after giving about 10 auditions, Ali landed up with the role of Abdul Karim.” (Also Read: Richa Chadha on dating Ali Fazal: We are not Barack Obama or Michelle Obama)
