Geeta Kapoor

Veteran actress Geeta Kapoor best remembered for her role in the cult classic ‘Pakeezah’ was hospitalised on account of being unwell. She was brought by her son, to be admitted in the SRV Hospital for failing blood pressure. But this was not the end of the story.

The most disgusting part about it was that when the time arrived to clear the bills, her son fled from the hospital on the pretext of going to look for an ATM. Every attempt to get in touch with him failed, as the hospital went ahead with her treatment and drew a bill of Rs 1.5 lakh. Ever since Kapoor has regained consciousness, she has been asking for her son and crying, say the hospital authorities. What’s saddening is that Geeta’s daughter too is unable to be contacted. Thankfully, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit came to her rescue as he paid the bill.

Geeta opened up on her ordeal with a leading daily, “He used to beat me up as I did not approve of his philandering ways. He would give me food once in four days, and sometimes, even lock me up for several days. I was not ready to go to an old-age home, that’s why he planned all this. He deliberately kept me hungry and I fell ill. Then, he got me admitted and fled.”

Now, Ashoke Pandit has taken to Twitter to announce that she has been granted an NOC by the Mumbai police and will be shifted to an old age home.
