Ghazal maestro and playback singer Pankaj Udhas passed away on February 26 at the age of 72. His daughter Nayaab Udhas took to her Instagram and shared an official statement, revealing the reason behind his death. The statement mentioned the veteran singer passed away due to a prolonged illness. With Pankaj Udhas death, fans have been in shock as they are pouring in condolence messages. Even some Bollywood celebs have mourned his demise including Kajol, Riteish Deshmukh, Adan Sami and others.

The Fanaa actor wrote, “You will be remembered every time music comes up.. Praying for the family.” Whereas the Houseful actor said, “Huge loss to the music world .. #PankajUdhas ji’s music touched millions of hearts across the planet. His legacy will live on for ever. Deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”

His daughter Nayaab Udhas’ statement read, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.”

Pankaj Udhas’ rep told indianexpress.com, “Pankaj sir was suffering from a prolonged illness and wasn’t keeping well the last few days. He died this morning around 11 am at Breach Candy hospital.”
