News of somebody’s demise is always painful. More so if it is fake. Paresh Rawal is the latest victim of death hoaxes. The actor took to Twitter to rubbish a report claiming that he died today (May 14) at 7 am in morning. He took it in his stride and responded humorously. Refusing his death report, Paresh wrote, “Sorry for the misunderstanding as I slept past 7am …!”

Paresh had battled the novel coronavirus in March. The actor shared a tweet after he tested positive. He wrote, “Unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID-19. All those that have come in contact with me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested (sic).” The actor recovered from the virus soon. Before Paresh Rawal, many celebrities have fallen prey to viral death hoaxes in the recent times.

These include Mukesh Khanna, Lucky Ali, Kirron Kher, Tabassum and others. Paresh Rawal, a former BJP parliamentarian, is known for the versatility of his performances. His breakout role was in the 1985 film Arjun. Rawal is equally acclaimed for dramatic performances such as the lead in 1993’s Sardar, a biopic of Vallabhbahi Patel, and comic turns in the Hera Pherifilms and cult hit Andaz Apna Apna. Mr Rawal’s theatre career has focused mainly on Gujarati plays, several of which he collaborates with wife Swaroop Sampat on. Paresh will be seen next in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Toofan.
