Singer Lucky Ali Gets Emotional At Concert; Reveals He’s Prepared For Death, “I Travel With My Burial Cloth”- Watch

He may be 67-year-old, but singer Lucky Ali – born Maqsood Mahmood Ali, is still young and performing live for his fans. The singer – who has given us songs like Ek Pal Ka Jeena from Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Aahista Aahista from Bachna Ae Haseeno and Safarnama from Tamasha, recently left fans emotional during a concert when he spoke candidly about death and his own preparedness for it.

In a video shared on his Instagram handle, the 67-year-old singer – who is known for his soulful voice and timeless music, became visibly emotional while interacting with the audience. Scroll below to read and watch what he said.

On Sunday, Lucky Ali shared a video on his Instagram handle, captioned, “Love you all 🙂 …….” In the video, the singer is tells his fans present at the concert that while he loved them, he’s aware that one day he will die. He said, “I know, I love you all too. But one day, I have to go, na. I am not preparing you for it, but I am prepared, actually.”

If that wasn’t enough, the award-winning singer then revealed that he carries his burial cloth – known as an Ihram, everywhere he goes. Ali said, “Whenever I travel, I travel with my Ihram, which is my burial cloth. Jaha bhi marr jau, wahi gaad do mujhe.” In the video, one fan expressed the deep affection audiences continue to have for Lucky, saying, “It’s been 30 years now; I just didn’t let go of Lucky.”

Reacting to his post, one user wrote, “Your body may leave this planet, but your voice and music is buried beneath many living souls.” Another commented, “I don’t think any Lucky Ali fan was ready to hear that” A third added,“I refuse to accept this reality. It’s still late 90s & I’m watching your song on DD & you are young forever. Mentally stuck there.”

Lucky Ali On Leaving Bollywood

While fans aren’t willing to let Lucky Ali go, the singer had previously spoken about his relationship with Bollywood and why he stepped away from the mainstream film industry. In an interview with Navbharat Times last year, he said, “There was a time I acted in films and sang songs, but eventually I didn’t know what more to do. I wanted to sing in my own style – O Sanam was born out of that search for freedom. In 2015, I distanced myself from the industry. People had misbehaved with me, but it wasn’t toxicity that drove me away-it was the monotony. After my father’s death, I felt there was nothing left for me there. I didn’t even have friends.”

Lucky Ali emerged as a significant figure in the Indian Indipop scene during the 1990s. He is known for hits such as Gori Teri Aankhein Kahen, Teri Yaad Jab Aati Hai, and Bollywood tracks including Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Hairat, Ek Pal Ka Jeena, Aahista Aahista and Safarnama, continues to charm listeners with his signature soulful style.
