Pooja Bhatt Opens Up On Single Life After Divorce
Opening up about her personal life in conversation with Times Of India, Pooja Bhatt described this phase as extremely rewarding. The actress shared that she is truly enjoying her own company after spending a large part of her life in relationships. Calling it a freeing experience post divorce, she said, “It is glorious. I am enjoying being single. I am as free as a bird now. I am the captain of my own ship. I call my own shots.”
She added, “I have so much to offer to the world. I have friends, cats, books and my craft. I am a nomad and I travel a lot. I want to be able to pick up my bag and go whenever I want. I discovered gymming at the age of 50. For me, gym is my temple now.”
Pooja Bhatt On The Institution Of Love
At the same time, Bhatt emphasised that her faith in love remains intact. “I will always be someone who will celebrate love,” she said, adding, “I have a combination of friends. Some have been married for 40 years and some who have been divorced four time. I am not missing out on anything. For the first time in my life, I feel complete. I think it has taken me a long time to realise that it is not only about finding the right person, but about being the right person.” She also briefly spoke about her sobriety journey, sharing that while quitting alcohol wasn’t particularly difficult, it made her confront deeper emotional realities.
About Pooja’s Marriage
Pooja Bhatt met VJ-turned-restaurateur Manish Makhija during the early 2000s. The two quickly connected, leading to their marriage in 2003 after a short courtship. They remained together for over a decade before mutually deciding to separate in 2014, bringing their marriage to an amicable end.
Pooja Bhatt’s Professional Front
On the work front, Bhatt has established a strong presence in the digital space with projects like Bombay Begums, Big Girls Don’t Cry, and her stint on Bigg Boss OTT 2. While many consider this a comeback, she views it differently. “My birth came from OTT when I was 17. So, Doordarshan was the OTT of those days,” she said, explaining that the medium is not new to her, only its format has evolved.
