Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish-Genelia Deshmukh, and Sanjay Dutt have joined forces for the upcoming period drama Raja Shivaji. Makers have revealed the worldwide release date and a ferocious teaser for the upcoming movie. The film is directed by Riteish Deshmukh, who also portrays Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and attempts to introduce the bravery and vision of the legendary Maratha warrior to a worldwide audience.

Abhishek Bachchan took to Instagram to drop a fiery teaser and wrote, “Privileged and honoured to present a cinematic tribute to India’s legendary warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj! #RajaShivaji 1 May 2026. Jio Studios & Mumbai Film Company come together to present this epic saga! Directed by Riteish Vilasrao Deshmukh. Apart from Riteish, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amol Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh. It is being produced by Genelia Deshmukh and Jyoti Deshpande and is currently being shot across Mumbai and Wai in Maharashtra.

The historical action drama Raja Shivaji will chronicle Shivaji’s inspiring journey from a rebellious young warrior to the revered leader who laid the foundation of Swarajya. It’s music by Ajay–Atul and cinematography by Santosh Sivan, who marks his Marathi cinema debut. The film promises a visually rich and emotionally resonant experience. Crafted as a large-scale cinematic tribute, Raja Shivaji will be released in six languages – Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
