Rajkumar Hirani’s Biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke Delayed as Aamir Khan Calls for Script Changes

The highly awaited biopic on cinema pioneer Dadasaheb Phalke, which was set to bring together Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani, has reportedly hit a pause. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the project is currently delayed as Aamir has asked for a rewrite of the script, which he felt wasn’t ready for a theatrical release.

Aamir Khan’s Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic Faces Delay, Script Rewrite in Progress

A source close to the actor revealed that Aamir was not satisfied with the initial version of the script written by Rajkumar Hirani and his frequent collaborator Abhijat Joshi. “Aamir expected the usual Hirani-Joshi blend of laughter, emotions, and drama. But the current draft lacked humour and didn’t feel complete,” the source explained.

The film, which was earlier expected to go on floors in October, is now off schedule. The team is currently reworking the script to match the standards expected from the duo that delivered hits like 3 Idiots and PK.

Meanwhile, Aamir is using the time to explore other film scripts across industries. With the Lokesh Kanagaraj collaboration also reportedly shelved, the actor is said to be considering new projects while waiting for the revised draft of the Phalke biopic.

This biopic holds significance as it aims to tell the story of Dadasaheb Phalke, regarded as the father of Indian cinema. Expectations are naturally high, and Aamir, known for his perfectionism, is reportedly taking his time to ensure the story is told right. There’s no official word yet from Aamir Khan, Hirani, or the production house, but fans will have to wait a bit longer to see this ambitious project take shape
