Rajkummar Rao is entering a new phase in life, one that is already reshaping his choices on and off screen. After welcoming his daughter Parvati in November 2025, the actor says his priorities have shifted, with family now taking centre stage alongside his work.
Rajkummar Rao Reflects On Life After Daughter Parvati’s Arrival
In a candid conversation on The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Rajkummar Rao spoke about how fatherhood has changed him. Even a simple mention of his daughter brings an instant shift in his mood. Recalling a moment on set, he shared, “Whenever somebody talks to me about Parvati, there’s this big smile that is there on my face. One of my co-actors asked me once ‘What’s your daughter’s name?’ I said, ‘Parvati.’ He was like ‘Have you noticed how our faces change when we talk about our kids?’ I was like, ‘I didn’t notice!’ Everything has changed.”
At the same time, he admitted that being away from her has become increasingly difficult. He took a five-month break after her birth. However, returning to work wasn’t easy. Speaking about resuming shoot for Dada, he said, “Whatever time I can, I just give her, I want to do that. I took a five-month break after she was born. Then I got back to shoot for Dada. It was surreal to leave her alone after five months and go to shoot. It was tough. I want to be with her 24/7. I just want to see her growing up into this beautiful girl one day.”
Rajkummar Rao Plans To Do Only Two Films A Year
As a result, Rajkummar Rao has begun scaling back professionally. He now plans to take on fewer projects and choose them more carefully. “I have decided now I am going to do way less work than what I was doing earlier. I’m going to try and do only two films a year. Now I am being very careful about the kind of films I do. I just want to really push myself and make Parvati, along with my mother and Patralekhaa, proud.”
He further added, “My motivation to work is driven by how she would feel about it and the kind of films she would like to watch when she grows up. I want to give her the time and freedom to do whatever she wants.”
Rajkummar Rao’s Upcoming Projects
Despite this shift, Rao continues to stay active on the work front. His evolving choices reflect a more mindful approach. As his Netflix film Toaster finds its audience, he also looks ahead to Raftaar, where he stars alongside Keerthy Suresh.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao has also begun work on one of his most anticipated projects, a biopic on former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. On April 1, he shared behind-the-scenes glimpses from the sets, including a clapperboard and a visual from the iconic stand at Eden Gardens. Backed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Luv Ranjan, the film will also shoot at Lord’s Cricket Ground, recreating key moments from Ganguly’s career.
