Rajkummar Rao-Led Prahaar, Raftaar Set To Clash At Box Office As Makers Postpone Release Date To October 16

After being delayed due to a crowded release schedule, Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming biopic on public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, Prahaar, finally has a new release date. Maddock Films announced on Instagram that the film will now hit theatres on October 16, 2026. The poster shared by Maddock includes the new release date. However, what’s interesting is that Prahaar is set for a box office clash with Aditya Nimbalkar’s Raftaar, starring Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh. Scroll down to read the full story.

Originally, the film was scheduled to release on August 7 but was moved to avoid clashing with other big releases like Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947, which were coming out just a week later.

However, the new date creates a potential clash with another Rajkummar Rao film, Raftaar by Aditya Nimbalkar, also set to release on October 16.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is also gearing up for Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story, a biopic on former cricketer Sourav Ganguly, scheduled to release in theatres on May 14, 2027.

About Prahaar

The official teaser for Prahaar was released in June, giving a powerful glimpse of Rajkummar Rao as Ujjwal Nikam. The teaser showcases a tense, investigative atmosphere, with visuals of case files, photographs, and notes of the attack. The focus is on the pursuit of truth and justice, especially around the high-profile trial of Ajmal Kasab. He was the sole terrorist survivor of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

The teaser hints at a broader war beyond the courtroom. The line read: “Killing Kasab was easy, proving who sent him was war.” The film also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sikander Kher in key roles. It promises a gripping portrayal of a landmark case in Indian legal history.
