Ranbir Kapoor on toxic masculinity in Animal

Post the OTT release of Animal, Ranbir, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor got in a special interview with Anubhav Singh Bassi. During the chat, Ranbir commented on the discussion about ‘toxic masculinity’ around Animal. He said, “There is a very healthy conversation that has started about toxic masculinity also, which is a great thing because cinema, at least, it starts a conversation. If something is wrong, if you don’t show that it is wrong, and unless conversation starts in the society, we will never realise it.”

Ranbir added that he enjoyed doing the action scenes in Animal as it was ‘technically’ his first action film. He got to let out all his frustration through those scenes and he enjoyed it a lot. The actor also confirmed that the film’s sequel, Animal Park is in the works. It will see him in a double role. Ranbir revealed that Sandeep has 2 scenes ready for the sequel, which he has narrated to the actor. While not much is known about the film, Ranbir is sure that Animal success will give Sandeep the confidence to go “darker and deeper and complex”.
