Ranveer Singh-Led Dhurandhar BANNED In Six Gulf Countries Due To Anti-Pakistan Content- Report

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar – starring some of Bollywood’s best talents like Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, has impressed the world and how. The film has worked wonder at the box office, managing to enter the Rs 200 crore domestically and Rs 300 crore globally with its 1 week collection.

However, do you the film has now released in all markets? As per a recent media report, the spy action thriller has been banned in the Gulf, aka the Middle East. You read that right. As per the report, the espionage thriller is not being screened in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Scroll below to know more.

Dhurandhar BANNED In Six Gulf Countries?

As per a recent Bollywood Hungama report, the makers of Dhurandhar attempted to secure a release for the actioner in the Gulf markets but were denied clearance owing to concerns over the film’s political positioning. The publication quoted a source saying, “Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have not released Dhurandhar. There were apprehensions that this would happen as the film is perceived as an ‘anti-Pakistan film’.”

Continuing further, the insider stated, “In the past too, such films have failed to procure a release in this region. The team still made an attempt, but none of the countries approved the film’s theme. That’s why Dhurandhar hasn’t been released in any of the Gulf territories.”

The GCC belt has often shied away from releasing of films with anti-Pakistani content because of their relations with both India and Pakistan. Other Bollywood films that faced similar (if not same) issues owing to their portrayal of India-Pakistan relations or geopolitical themes, include Sky Force, The Diplomat, Article 370, The Kashmir Files, Tiger 3 and more.

Despite the Gulf setback, Dhurandhar continues to hold story at the global box office. While the film has amassed over Rs 200 crore (NBOC) in India within 7 days of its release, another media report claims the film has flow passed the Rs 300 crore mark with its worldwide collection.
