Rashmika Mandanna is one of the most sought-after actresses in the country. The actress – who celebrated her 28th birthday today, will soon be seen as Srivalli in Pushpa 2: The Rule opposite Allu Arjun. While the excitement for the upcoming sequel is high, the actress has reacted to the response her last release, Animal – co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, received.

While interacting with Neha Dhupia on the No Filter Neha vodcast, Rashmika Mandanna defended criticism against Animal and her body in it.

Rashmika on Animal criticism

When asked about the negativity surrounding the Sandeep Reddy Vanga film, Rashmika Mandanna said it is ‘just about a character’ who’s ‘messed in the head.’ The actress defended the film saying, “He’s (Ranbir Kapoor’s Rannvijay ‘Vijay’ Singh Balbir) messed in the head and will go to any lengths for his father. That was engraved in my mind when I shot for the film. Nobody can do anything about it, it’s his story. If you want films to be raw, real and correct, Animal is that. After watching it, to say it’s misogynistic or whatever…if you enjoyed it, just leave it.”

Rashmika on being body-shamed

In the same conversation, Rashmika Mandanna also spoke about being trolled for the scene that saw Geetanjali confront Ranbir’s character during Karva Chauth. Talking it, she said, “I don’t like people trolling women about their bodies, if they’re trolling about my dialogue or whatever, I’m okay.” She continued, “Everyone loved the Karva Chauth scene on set, but then the trailer came out and I was trolled for it. In my head, I had nailed this nine-minute-long scene. Am I living in a bubble? I know everything I do isn’t cool, but I didn’t understand this. However, when the majority of the audience liked my performance in the scene when the film was released, my gut was right.”

Rashmika Mandanna projects

Rashmika has several projects at the moment, including Pushpa: The Rule and The Girlfriend in Telugu, and Chaava in Hindi. On the occasion of her birthday, the makers have unveiled her character poster from the upcoming Allu Arjun sequel.
