Sanjay Dutt

Omung Kumar’s ‘Bhumi’ is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, given it is the comeback vehicle for the ‘baba’ of Bollywood, Sanjay Dutt, after his jail term.

The film, which was set to release in the month of August, will now release on September 22. The new release date was confirmed by producers Bhushan Kumar and Sandeep Singh. And speaking about why the decision was made, director Omung Kumar said, “Sanjay has given his best performance till date and I am glad that we are increasing the anticipation for the audiences.”

Says producer Bhushan Kumar, “We are extremely happy to have our film finally release on the 22nd of September this year. Sanjay and our entire team found it an apt decision to shift the release date by a month as this would give us enough time to promote the film.”

Talking about the film, producer Sandeep Singh added, “Sanjay insisted that he did not want his comeback film to clash with anyone else. He believes that given the kind of hard work that goes into making a film, it can’t boil down to unhealthy competition at the box office.”

Sanjay Dutt is currently shooting for the climax portions in Mumbai.

‘Bhoomi’ is an emotional story on the relationship between a father and daughter. It also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, who plays Sanjay’s daughter in the film.
