Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Opens Up On Bollywood Debut At 45

At 45, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, is all set to make her acting debut in Daadi Ki Shaadi, becoming the oldest debutant in the Kapoor family. This debut is especially emotional for Riddhima, as she shares screen space with her daughter Samara for the first time. She revealed that her experience on Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives helped her feel comfortable in front of the camera and eased her nerves.

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Opens Up On Bollywood Debut At 45

In an interview with SCREEN, Riddhima discussed her first time on a film set last year at age 45, and her daughter Samara’s brief appearance in the movie. Riddhima is married to businessman Bharat Sahni, and together they have a daughter.

It truly feels surreal and deeply emotional. There’s a sense of everything coming full circle. I know my father is always with me, blessing me in anything and everything that I choose to do. That thought gives me a lot of strength and comfort… Honestly, the biggest challenge was stepping into an entirely new world at this stage of life. There’s a certain vulnerability in starting fresh, but also a lot of excitement at the same time,” she shared.

Riddhima On Daughter Samara’s And Her Acting Career

Riddhima also mentioned that while shooting the wedding comedy, she left her daughter alone at their home in New Delhi for the first time since Rishi’s cancer treatment in New York in 2019. The film features a special on-screen moment for Riddhima, who shares the frame with her mother Neetu and daughter Samara in the song Senti. While Samara is comfortable around the paparazzi, Riddhima remains unsure whether her debut—her appearance or her daughter’s—will lead to a full-time acting career.

About her daughter, she said, “It’s a small but very sweet appearance in the song. As a mother, it’s such a proud and emotional moment to see your child on screen.” Riddhima first appeared on camera when producer Karan Johar cast her in Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives in 2024. She admitted that her experience on the show helped her feel more at ease in front of the camera, making her transition into acting smoother.

About Daadi Ki Shaadi

Directed by Ashish R. Mohan, the comedy-drama also stars Kapil Sharma, Sadia Khateeb, R. Sarathkumar, and Teju Kolhapuri. The trailer shows Kapil’s family worried about his marriage, until they find a seemingly perfect match in Sadia Khateeb. However, things take a surprising turn when Sadia’s grandmother, played by Neetu Kapoor, decides to get married herself. This creates a major hurdle, as Sadia’s family is given an ultimatum: stop the grandmother’s wedding or risk losing the alliance with Kapil. The film’s trailer has built anticipation, and it is scheduled to be released in theatres on May 8.
