Several big-ticket movies such as the Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmii and Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi released digitally last year due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Salman Khan’s Eid blockbuster Radhe also released on Zee5/Zeeplex under a Pay-Per-View model, redefining the tenets of the industry. Now two more films are releasing on the streaming platforms – Saif Ali Khan’s Bhoot Police and Taapsee Pannu’s Haseen Dillruba. While Netflix had confirmed previously that Haseen Dillruba will release on their platform, the makers of Bhoot Police shared about its OTT release recently.

Taapsee took to social media to share a new teaser video of Haseen Dillruba. The shooting of the film was completed in October 2020. Directed by Vinil Mathew, Haseen Dillruba is a murder mystery. The film also stars Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane in pivotal roles. The film was earlier supposed to release in September 2020, but due to the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic, the release date had to be postponed. The story of Haseen Dillruba has been written by Kanika Dhillon.

Sharing a teaser video, Taapsee wrote, “Kahani Aashiqana. Raaz Katilana. #HaseenDillruba coming soon. Only on Netflix. #TheUltimateKaunspiracy (sic).”

On the other hand, the news of Bhoot Police getting an OTT release was confirmed by film producer Ramesh Taurani. Speaking to The Times of India, Taurani mentioned that he had no option since theatres will not be opening before November 2021 and that too at 50 per cent capacity. He further mentioned that the way things are going, it is still going to take a lot of time to get back to old times. The pandemic has affected several businesses, especially the entertainment industry that has been trying to get back to its feet since March 2020. Bhoot Police is a horror comedy film that also stars Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam, and Jacqueline Fernandez. The film will be released on OTT mostly in September, or October.

Bhoot Police is directed by Pawan Kripalani and will trace the story of a group of ghost hunters and their hilarious adventures.
