Salman Khan’s highly-anticipated film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai is scheduled to release on Eid (May 13) this year. However, amid a huge surge in Coronavirus cases, there are rumours going the round that the film might get postponed once again.

Now, the superstar has himself given an update on the film’s release. “We are still trying our best to release Radhe on Eid but if this lockdown is going to continue then we might have to push it to the next Eid. But if the cases go down and people take care of themselves and wear the masks, maintain social distancing, don’t break the laws that the government has put on us then I think this will die off very soon and if it does then we will have Radhe in theatres on Eid,” said Salman.

The superstar further added, “But if the citizens don’t listen and these COVID cases continue to rise then it’s not just the problem for theatre owners but also for the daily wage workers. It’s going to be a really bad one like it was earlier.” The actor was speaking at the cover launch of Kabir Bedi’s memoir ‘Stories I Must Tell: The Emotional Life of an Actor’. The virtual event was organised by GQ India magazine.

In January this year, Salman had announced that the film will have a theatrical release on Eid this year. In his statement, Salman wrote, “Sorry it has taken me a long time to revert to all the theatre owners. It’s a big decision to make during these times. I understand the financial problems that theatre owners/exhibitors are going through and I would like to help them by releasing Radhe in theatres. In return, I would expect them to take utmost amount of care and precautions for the audience who would come to the theatre to watch Radhe. The commitment was of Eid and it will be Eid 2021.”

He signed off saying, “By the grace of god, film acchi bani hai. Chal bhi jaayegi. But what’s important is that the people should not get the virus.” Last month, the actor confirmed the film’s release date as he tweeted: “Eid ka commitment tha, Eid par hi aayenge kyun ki ek baar jo maine.”

Other than Salman, Radhe also features his Bharat co-stars Disha Patani and Jackie Shroff. The film also stars Randeep Hooda, with whom Salman has shared screen space in films like Kick and Sultan. Radhe is directed by choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva. It is co-produced by Salman Khan, his brother Sohail Khan and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri.
