Salman Khan’s O O Jaane Jaana Final Version Never Made It To The Film! Composer Lalit Pandit Reveals, “Tape Toot Gayi Aur…”

Sohail Khan’s Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya is a rom-com loved by millions of millennials for not only the actors’ acting but also the film’s hit songs. Be it Odh Li Chunariya Tere Naam Ki, Teri Jawani Badi Mast Mast Hai or Deewana Main Chala and O O Jaane Jaana, every song of the film was immensely loved by fans and still crooned. While the film will complete 30 years soon, its composer Lalit Pandit (of Jatin-Lalit duo) recently made an interesting revelation.

As per Lalit’s confession, the final mix of Salman Khan setting the stage on fire while performing without a shirt and an electric guitar in hand didn’t make the film’s final cut. O O Jaane Jaana Final Mix Did Feature In Salman Khan’s Pyaar Kiya To Darna 

Over the weekend, the Indian Idol stage turned nostalgic as legendary music composer Lalit Pandit graced the show as a special guest. During his appearance, contestant Manraj delivered an energetic performance of O O Jaane Jaana from Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. Post watching his performance, Lalit Pandit revealed that the version the world has been humming for decades was actually never meant to be the final version.

The composer was quoted saying, “Jab humne song compose kiya tha, yeh jo song hain kabhie final mix tak pahucha hi nahi. Humne song record kar liya tha aur tape bhi the humare pass par release ke kuch din pehle voh tape toot gayi aur aaj tak jo aap sab uss gaane ko sunte hain voh final mix song hi nahi hain.”

Left with no other choice, they decided to use that raw, unpolished track, which turned out to be so high in quality that it matched the standards of a final mix and eventually became a nationwide sensation.

Lalit: Song Hit Hogayi Only Because Of Salman

Lalit Pandit further credited the superstardom of Salman Khan for making the song an instant hit and an eternal visual treat. Lalit – stating that the rough track found its soul through Salman’s unmatched screen presence, said, “Gaana itni hit hogi humne socha nahi tha, hume pata tha song achi hain par yeh song hit hogayi only because of Salman Khan kyunki unka jo screen presence tha voh guitar ke sath aur shirtless voh work kar gaya.”

Written and directed by Sohail Khan, the 1998 rom-com starrer Dharmendra, Salman Khan, Kajol and Arbaaz Khan in lead roles. That year, the film won several awards, including Filmfare’s RD Burman Award for New Music Talent (Kamaal Khan for O O Jaane Jaana).
