Sanjay Dutt

Recently, we were treated to the trailer of Sanjay Dutt’s comeback flick ‘Bhoomi’ and we must say, what a comeback! The audiences too have been raving about the trailer and now his fans have another reason to rejoice. The actor has recorded a special track called ‘Jai Mata Di’ for the movie. Revealing the same to a popular tabloid, Sanjay Dutt said, “I am reciting shlokas in the song. I’m an ardent believer of Mata Rani, who has given me the strength to face hard times. When the makers came up with the idea, I was immediately sold.”

The music composer duo, Sachin-Jigar who has given the background score of the movie, stated in a statement, “Sanjay Dutt is an all rounder. He can sing, act and dance effortlessly at the same time. He is a multi-tasking rockstar for us. He has sung a few Sanskrit shlokas and took precisely 60 minutes in the studio to deliver his part with no prior training.” (Also Read: Candid clicks from the trailer launch of Sanjay Dutt’s movie ‘Bhoomi’)

Sachin further revealed, “We always wanted to use his voice in the track. His baritone is impactful and adds heft to any track.” Dutt added, “It’s slightly easier nowadays because there are instruments to enhance your tonality and voice. But during my early days, I’ve seen legendary singers like Lataji [Mangeshkar] record songs in a single take. During Rocky (1981), I was in awe of her prowess. We are fortunate that our singers make us sound so good on screen. Singers and musicians need to be lauded more than they are today. I feel fortunate that the audience cares so much for me. It’s because of my fans that I have overcome the hard times and am still around.”

Director Omung Kumar spoke about the movie and said, “Sanjay has given his best performance till date and I am glad that we are increasing the anticipation for the audiences.”

Helmed by Omung Kumar, ‘Bhoomi’ also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharad Kelkar and Shekhar Suman. It will be releasing on September 22, 2017.
